ReplyDeleteI started following on Feedle ( I don't use Bloglovin )
And my worst sewing experience was sewing jersey for the first time without knowing there is a special needle :-)

I'm having a baby girl in September and would love these patterns! I'm new to the [garment] sewing world and find ALL garment patterns extremely frustrating! My last garment was a halloween costume - it was a rennaissance costume complete with a corset, boning, and those metal O-ring things. WOW!!! I still can't believe I made it! LOL
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm now a follower via google! ;c)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I "liked" your FB page! ;c)
ReplyDeleteKnit has made me flustered many times, but I have a new machine and a walking foot, so I am ready to conquer it now! Thanks for a lovely giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I tried a set in sleeve I put it in upside down and didn't realize it until I finished the dress I was making.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first got my sewing machine the tension was all crazy and I couldn't figure it out for the longest time! My patient husband is the one who actually figured it out for me...
ReplyDeleteKnits are really tough to master!
ReplyDeleteI often make a simple mistake and after sewing the inseam of a pair of pants I sew the two legs together! Thanks for the giveaway. Ana
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I had a serious frustrating moment yesterday. I was sewing a diaper bag and I was within a half hour of being done. So you know that means something is going to go horribly wrong. And sure enough I was tucking the bottom corners and sewing and binding the seams. I didn't check to make sure the seam was good before I bound the seam. Yeah... then I found out that the side pockets didn't catch in the seam. Hmmm... dunno how good a pocket without a bottom is going to work hehehe. Kind of funny now - but seriously... the diaper bag is sitting on my cutting table glaring at me every time I walk by. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteI always struggle with linings. I always make it way harder than it needs to be...I'm visual and the directions often confuse

ReplyDeleteI've gotten frustrated with paper piecing many times!

ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of time making a garment...it was perfect...then I washed it...then it didn't fit...yuck!
ReplyDeletesntbosch(at)me(dot)com
I saw HSTs and decided to make them without finding instructions and hints first. Boy was that a disaster. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat moment when you have 3 inches left to sew and the bobbin thread runs out!
ReplyDeleteI follow you on blog lovin but do most of my blog reading on feedly. It works better on my phone and tablet.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, I've had some VERY frustrating sewing experiences lately! I've been trying to make a fitted blouse for myself, and nothing fits. I made two muslins that didn't fit, then I realized that I needed to do a DD FBA. So I did just that...and my two attempts completely failed. I'm setting up a lesson with a local sewing instructor so she can teach me how to do a proper FBA, so I hope I can overcome the hurdle very soon!
ReplyDeleteZippers - I need to learn how to put them in without frustration. Thanks for the chance to win the cute children's patterns.
ReplyDeleteI made a short and top pillowcase dress for my great granddaughter. No pattern so it was frustrating since I quilt most of the time. I guess I need patterns

ReplyDeleteI think is when sewing a zipper.

ReplyDeleteI made a christening dress for my granddaughter. While I was buying the fabric the lady at the store asked what I was making and I told her. She said, "Oh, so you are a christian." Guess I would have been a Baptist if I said it was for a baptism dress. Well the dress had an under layer of satin and an overlay of lace. It was a slippery dress to make! I was actually sewing on the buttons the day of the baptism because of the time it took to make.

I made boot like slippers for myself out of fabric that was faux suede on one side and fluffy on the other and I did finished them, but they were definitely beyond my skill level at the time. I actually made one then didn't make the other for like a year and the second one turned out much better, lol.
ReplyDeleteI wear them anyway.
PS the boys shortalls pattern is on my list of patterns to buy! Eek I hope I win!!
I follow you on FB now (and sent you FB message so you'd know who I was since I don't use my real name on blogger!)
ReplyDeleteI'd say ripping out seams drives me insane. It never fails that I have to do it when I use expensive fabric for a project. Blah!!
ReplyDeleteMy most frustrating sewing experience is running out of bobbin thread and then when I went to wind a new bobbin, found the bobbin winder wouldn't work. I managed to wind a bobbin by hand and have it actually work.

I don't really have a specific experience, but most of the time I get in a hurry and don't think things through, I always end up sewing things backwards or with wrong sides together. Thank goodness for a seam ripper!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am sewing in a particular colour and then run out of bobbin 3 inches from the end. Happens to me all the time!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was trying to sew chiffon. It was a complete disaster.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got my new sewing machine I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't sew past two inches. I guess I wasn't pulling my thread far enough back behind my project before I started :) Never had that problem with my older machine... Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI liked you on FB :)
ReplyDeleteJust before I got my new sewing machine I realised that I'd been sewing for ten years on my grandmas machine without realising that it had a reverse button!! And in the last few months that I was using it I was sewing daily. Gosh I felt like a dill when I worked that out! But yes, I can laugh about it now :)
ReplyDeleteTHe first quilt I made was a bed size quilt. for the blocks I used a basic paper piecing method, with a roll of chalk paper I had lying around. It took me many days to get all the scrap pieces of paper from the back.
ReplyDeletethe quilt turned out great and I'm rether proud of it, but I will never use this technique again :-D
My most frustrating sewing experience was my wedding dress. It was just a simple sundress but it took me weeks and multiple calls to my mom, scanned pictures of the pattern, tears and stress. But it turned out cute! And all I've sewn since then are curtains, pillowcases and cushion covers. Thanks for the chance to win these patterns:-) I'm hoping to be able to learn enough to sew for my Sweetie Girl.
ReplyDeleteMy most frustrating moment was when I had sewn a seam on a robe and it was wrong. I ripped it out but at the same time, ripped a big tear in the fabric. I didn't have any extra fabric so had to just sew an extra seam. At least it was a robe and not a dress!
ReplyDeleteI am still in the spells of frustration at the moment that the 3rd pair of Flannelette PJ pants I am making for my daughter I can not get the button hole on my machine to work to make the hole for the elastic in the waist band. It is driving me nuts.
ReplyDeleteMy most frustrating moment was trying to make bags with fabric that was far too thick for my crappy first sewing machine. I started browsing for a more heavy duty machine after I'd watched 5 tough needles go snapping terrifyingly across the room!
ReplyDeletethanks for the offer.
ReplyDeleteMy greatest sewing frustration was getting used to a new, fully electronic machine - it sure had me intimidated. glad i have mostly mastered it now.
I am following you on bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteand now I am following via facebook too - can you tell I am loving those patterns? :)
ReplyDeletePants always give me problems. Once I ended up sewing the leg seams as the waist. I'm always getting something backwards.
ReplyDeleteI sewed together a quilt and I could not square it up. Finally I ripped apart the rows and alternated the order in which I sewed them (up, down, up, instead of down down down). Came out much better!
ReplyDeleteMy most frustrating was when my son was in gymnastics and I first tried sewing up a singlet. Ugg! That dancewear knit can be pretty hard the first couple times.

My most recent frustrating experience was when I accidentally added a seam allowance on the fold edge of a pattern I made for a dress for my little girl. I didn't realize it until it was all sewn up, she was wearing it, and it was gaping around the neck.
ReplyDeleteI've just made a skirt and it took three tries with an invisible zip and I put a hole in the zipper as it got stuck while I tried it on!!! So had to re-do it again with a normal zipper!
ReplyDeleteI once tried to make a swim suit for my little girl. I didn't know I needed a special needle or what stitch to use. The project ended in the trash.
ReplyDeleteI have tried sewing up some nursing bras. I guess I am not a straight from the pattern person, because I had to make extensive alterations to make them work!

When I first started sewing I would mess up on inserting the bobbin so much that after a long period of time sitting in front of the sewing machine, I would have only a mess to clean up.

i just sewed what should have been a simple tee for my son as part of kcw and it took the whole week! i spent a lot of time w/my seam ripper -it probably would have been faster cutting and sewing a new one but i had a small amount of knit i was repurposing and was determined to make it work...and i did...finally.
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway!
i follow via bloglovin'. thanks
ReplyDeleteSewing velour! It doesn't stay in place! Especially when you're sewing something small...
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on a two sided quilt and I didn't line the two sides up very well before I started quilting now I need to figure out the best way to square it up.....frustrating but my own fault!!
ReplyDeleteI don't use blog lovin but I do follow you on FB
ReplyDeleteI remember trying to sew a bag and I kept putting the lining in the wrong way. I must have done it around 5 times before i got it right!!
ReplyDeletewalkthedust at gmail dot com
I'm still trying to figure out zippers... they are very frustrating!
ReplyDeleteWhen learning to sew I sometimes used the wrong sized needles, which would then always break. Also using a cheap thread which would always snap (usually during topstitching). Very frustrating!! :) the7thsphere@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteCute! Love the PJs. Any time I misread the directions or assume I know how to do something and mess up is frustrating!
ReplyDeleteDo you mean a mess up like the time I sewed my finger to my quilt with the sewing machine and had a literal mess? Yes, that was frustrating.
ReplyDeleteWell I mixed up the short sleeves on a dress for my little sister and sewed them on backwards - ignoring the unmatched notches. She hated wearing that dress because she claimed the sleeves were too tight!
ReplyDeleteI was making a skirt and the worst part arrived "sewing the zipper" once I finished I noticed the zipper was on the wrong side, aghhhh!
ReplyDeleteOne of the most frustrating things is running out of bobbin thread halfway through a project.
ReplyDeleteOur quilt guild makes a block-of-the-month for our charity quilts. Last month's was complicated, and I reversed 2 sections sos that mine was completely different (wrong!) when we displayed them at the meeting. Thanks for the giveaway chance!
ReplyDeletePurchasing fabric and a pattern with advice and assistance from a fabric shop for a beginners sewing class, and then discovering that there wasn't quite enough fabric... It worked out in the end, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
most frustrating sewing experience...hmmm...my walking foot seems to be unhappy these days. it is frustrating me everytime i try to use it - seems to not be moving at a good speed. thanks for the chance to win!
