When An from Straight Grain was working on a new pattern and sewing samples, I could not wait for a chance to test the pattern for her. I love everything An makes, and this was no exception.
The top came together fast, even though I chose fabric that required some thinking, since the print is so directional. I chose to do the top, since Ania is not a fan of dresses. An's instructions are very detailed with many useful tips, including making perfect gatherers.
The day An sent us the pattern, I got an awful migraine that stubbornly stuck around. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish in the time frame, so decided to fight through it and sew. I was just going through steps thinking that I really needed a nap, when I did the sleeves. My heart skipped a beat, you know, how it does when you fall in love or eat really good chocolate. Swoon. The sleeves had me at the first stitch. (Aren't I funny. Well, at least I amuse myself.)
Ania loves her new top. It is very versatile and looks good with shorts, pants or skirts. I definitely recommend it. Get yourself a copy HERE. You won't regret it.
I love those serendipitous sewing moments. Those sleeves are pretty awesome.
