My oldest desperately needs a few wardrobe additions. He is down to three long sleeve shirts and two sweatshirts. It's cold here. The problem with being able to sew, is that I am too critical of cheaply made clothes and I don't want to spend money on good stuff. Also, I always think, but I can just make it. I can, if only there were more hours in a day. :) I did manage to make one. I plan to make a few more, so prepare to see some boy sewing.
The poor child is getting major orthodontic work done, as in we are slowly pulling apart his jaws, so his teeth are a bit strange looking right now. He does love his new shirt and enjoys modeling quite a bit, unlike his younger sister.
Let's discuss the shirt.
Fabric: Interlock knit from my stash. I can't remember where I got it, but it's very nice quality.
Pattern: Ottobre 4/2013. If you are not new to my blog, you probably know by now how much I love Ottobre.
Modifications: I had to grade the pattern a size up since the biggest size was 128.
I love the elbow patches. I got a piece of leather a while ago from Leather Hide Store and made myself a bag. I have a few smaller pieces left, so I thought elbow leather patches would be a cool detail. I barely had enough fabric (the story of my life) but I did manage to match the stripes nicely. (stripes matching tips HERE) Overall, I am quite happy with the results.
Beautiful boy! Good to see him making an appearance here! I really must start sewing for my son, who would love this too. How old is he? My boy is almost 9, and this looks perfect for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Victoria!
DeleteI love it! The elbow patches make the sweatshirt - great addition! I have yet to venture into Ottobre, but I love all their stuff when I see it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I highly recommend Ottobre, the fit is always spot on! :)
DeleteThank you, Amy! I called him cute the other day, and he promptly corrected me and informed me that he was handsome, not cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great sweatshirt Olga! I love the knit and the elbow patches! I agree with Victoria - it is great to see some boy sewing. Please keep it coming! He is a natural... And your photos are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sara!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mie! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun hoodie! I need to make more ottobre. I love them too!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! Love the patches
ReplyDeleteThis Tee is lots of fun! I love the leather detail, very masculine.
ReplyDeleteVery attractive. I would make him several of these shirts as he looks so comfortable.

Love the patches and the stripes! Great shirt!
ReplyDeleteAhhh yes, if only there were more hours in the day! This is great, I love the black and tan stripes, I actually just made myself a dress in very similar fabric!! Also, it is impossible to guess this guy's age by these pics! He could be anywhere from 8 to 15... Love seeing cool boy clothes, the leather patches are great.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you in the store when it comes to clothes for me. I rarely buy anything and I almost never sew for myself. It doesn't add up. Perfectly matched stripes and a great looking sweater.
