This week quite a few bloggers are showcasing the new stunning line from Art Gallery Fabrics, InBlue, designed by Katarina Rocella.
I chose two different fabrics, Bloesem Royal and Weide in Blue. Both are quilting cotton. At some point in my sewing journey I decided that I prefer not to sew garments from quilting cotton. But I make an exception for Art Gallery fabrics. The fabric really has a nice hand. It's not very thick and just feels and behaves nicely. It's really dreamy to work with.
For patterns, I made the Jaanu dress by Straight Grain my Antalya dress. I love how both dresses turned out.
I really love the Antalya dress in big bold print. I think it looks gorgeous in this fabric. It also looks very nice on, not stiff at all.
I added piping because piping makes everything better, right? I also omitted the bias finishing of the neckline an dback slit. Instead I made a facing and added a slit in the back.
I have had the Jaanu pattern since it was realeased and I am happy I was finally able to make it. The dress is really beautiful. There are so many interesting lines and pleats, I almost feel like it needs to be made in solid fabric. Maybe next time.
You can sort of see the short bodice and then pleated bottom. Really cool.
Evelyn loves her new dress. She announced that blue is her favorite color now. I can go with that.
The dress passed the twirl factor. Phew.
Off they go.
