The task is to use the pattern and make a design of your own. Here is my take on the pattern.
While browsing through a local fabric store a while ago I came upon a table that had a sigh "Sample Fabrics". There was a large piece of fabric with the prettiest print. It almost look like a watercolor painting.
I touched it and it was the softest thing ever. It draped beautifully, and also had a subtle shimmer to it. Love. There was just enough fabric to eke out a dress for Ania. And I really like how it turned out.
Even though it was a nightmare to work with. The qualities that attracted me to the fabric drove me absolutely crazy. It slipped, and stretched every possible direction. It warped and I was ready to take my scissors and cut the whole thing into million pieces. Instead, I persevered.
I used a zipper in the back. I also decided to make a bubble skirt. I really like how it drapes so softly.
I like how the skirt is not too puffy. It is fancy enough to wear to a party, but also simple enough to play.
I asked Ania if she liked her new dress. "Of course, you worked so hard on it", she replied. She loved to model.
That's how you do it. :)
So sweet and pretty. I bet she feels like a princess!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think she always feels like a princess. :)
DeleteAww, that is so cute! I like styles like this that could almost work for an adult, but they look ten times sweeter on a child.
ReplyDeleteso elegant !
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of it
I figured with such delicate fabric it had to be simple.
DeleteReally beautiful fabric& I can see how it would be extra difficult to work with. I have steered clear of such fabrics after creating a skirt using christmas tulle. What a nightmare! But it surely hones your skills when you push through!! plus it turned out very nice. good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think I will stay away from anything remotely silky or slippery for a while. :)
Deletethe colors compliment her perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, and love a bubble hem! What a sweet girl :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI loved the soft colors in the fabric too. I bet the fabric feels wonderful when you wear it too. Great job. I think you might have taught your daughter another life lesson too... sometimes we have to struggle through an activity and just not give up.

Deletevery very pretty and elegant, for a small lady! :) I like the watercolor fabric very much, wouldn't mind a blouse like that for myself ;) (sister, maybe you ll find smth for me too in those sample fabrics :))))
ReplyDeleteMaybe. :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful fabric! I agree. It does drape beautifully. (The prettiest ones are sometimes the most challenging to work with :).) Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You created not one but two beautiful dresses also with challenging fabric. Well done!
