The polka dot fabric came from an estate sale. It is lighter than quilting cotton and I thought it would drape beautifully. I was probably right, except I miscalculated and didn't have quite enough fabric to make a circle skirt. The bottom of the dress is made out of quilting weight cotton that has the same pattern, but sadly doesn't drape as beautifully as I hoped.
The pattern is very versatile with three different options for a skirt, sleeves and collars. How cool is that! Love that you can use the same pattern and achieve totally different looks. Also, An thoughtfully included page numbers for each option, so there is no need to print a barrage of papers.
Overall I like my version, though it might be a little too vintage for my taste. You know, it is like she stepped right out of 1955. As in - let me just put my lipstick on, brush everybody's hair and line all the children by the door to greet the man who worked in the office the whole day. Then, we will have a four course meal that I prepared in my little apron and cute shoes. And tomorrow the ladies will come for tea and cookies that I will bake from scratch... You know, the stereotypical picture of the 50s. :) I am sure it was nothing like that, but that's what the dress makes me think of. :)
Ania loves it, the twirling factor is awesome! I would definitely make more versions of the dress, maybe a little more modern. :)
Such a sweet little dress! I love the piping and those sleeves!

ha, ha, I think Ania TOTALLY got into the role, those curls on the forehead and those hand movements! :) dont know why you think it is too much 50s, I think it is cure and very girly and fits Ania"s overall looks :)
