Juliette Pattern Tour

It's my turn to showcase the new pattern released by Sewpony in collaboration with Knee Socks and Goldilocks - the Juliette dress and top. It's such a sweet dress and quite a fast and easy make. Suz is running a sewing contest with fabulous prices for grabs. A perfect excuse to sew up a new dress and enter. There is even a discount, get 10% off with 'dressedinsewpony' code, valid through June 2.

I up-cycled two linen table cloth type things. They were not very big and sort of long with delicate embroidery at the edge, not sure what they are used for or where I got them, but I love the embroidery. I love up-cycling, it's a different sort of sewing, makes you think out of the box since you are working with existent features and often not enough fabric. It also makes me feel good knowing that things will not rot in the land field for ever.

I wanted to keep the existing hem because of the embroidery, so I couldn't cure my hem like it should curve for the A-line dress. I knew my side seams will be hanging down, since the two edges were not at 90 degree angle.  So I thought it would be fun to  exaggerate the A-line and then add two slits at the sides.

I really like how it turned out. It's breezy and summery.

Isn't that embroidery beautiful? I love it.

I made the ties in the back, the pattern also has a loop and button closure option.

The pattern comes with an option of a ruffle at the neckline. It's very sweet looking, but Ania vetoed the ruffle. I also lined part of the front, because the fabric is a bit see through.

Ania quite likes her new top. I think it will be perfect for the hot summers here. Thank you Suz and Jill for having me. Make sure to check out all other participants.

  2. I love recycling too...although I can't bring myself to use the term 'upcycling' as I am not a fan of made up words (teacher in me)....I love your top! I hope she will get a lot of wear out of it!
