I have a thing for books, I buy them. I can’t help myself,
especially if they are sewing books. With four little kids I don’t always have
the time to make things, I just look at the beautiful pictures admiring all the
time and effort the author put in to create, to teach and to share. One of my
recent purchases was Girls’ World by
Jennifer Paganelli.
The photographs are
amazing and the projects are easy but interesting enough to spend the time
tracing patterns.
With the fall upon us, I wanted to make one last
summer dress for Ania. The dress is the first project in the book.
It is easy enough for a beginner to make. The
bodice is roomy enough that it doesn’t require a zipper or buttons. The
neckline is finished with the store bought bias tape. The bottom is basically
two rectangles sewn together and gathered to fit the bodice. The instructions
are very detailed and easy to follow.
The pattern is cut very generously; I would
choose a smaller size if the measurements are in between sizes.
Ania loves her new dress, but doesn’t want to wear it too
often. “I can’t be a lion in it," was her explanation. She pretends to be a
lion since her hair makes her look like one. She has a point there.
I love the color combination and the dress is very cute:) Thanks for linking it up @ Sew Book Inspired Link party I need to check out this book !!
