Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star...

Maksim, my two year old, loves to sing. He goes around his day rearranging his trucks and trains while humming a song. It is impressive how well he can carry a tune. For a while it was the Star Wars theme song. (I am aware that the movies are slightly inappropriate for a two year old) But lately, it has been Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I hear "Tinkle, Tinkle Little Sta" the whole day. The song is hopelessly stuck in my head. No matter what I do, I catch myself humming the stupid thing. The other day to my horror, I realized that I was staring at the yogurt at the grocery store humming twinkle twinkle...So I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to participate in Sew in Tune hosted by Melly Sews  and  Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy. The challenge is to sew a garment inspired by a song. Perfect. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star needs to be released from my head into pants.

We present you the Star Pants. :) I used blue and yellow knit because that's what I had the stars are balls of fire suspended in the dark Universe.

I started with the Ottobre (4/2011)pattern for sweat pants and added star shaped pockets.  They have an elastic waist and cuffs at the bottom. The shirt came from the same magazine. I added a pocket for an extra detail.

I also discovered yellow fold over elastic in my stash. Love surprises like that!

Maksim loves his new outfit. He is also obviously an aspiring model. :)

What to make your own star pants? The tutorial is coming!
