Debbie's Birthday Dress by Sewpony

I've bee searching for a good A-line pattern that can be customized easily. When my new blogging friend Suz from Sewpony offered me to try her new pattern I was thrilled and couldn't wait to start sewing! She just recently made a few modifications (read Suz's post here) to it and re-launched it in her Etsy shop.  The dress is adorable!

I made size 18 months, the smallest size available. It's still a bit large on my one year  old, which I like. She doesn't really need any new clothes, and I am hoping it will fit her as a tunic next spring.

When we left the house the dress was nicely pressed, wrinkle free and clean. It took us about five minutes to get to the park and it looks like it was on the bottom of the laundry basket for at least a week. How do they do it?

The main fabric came from a friend's shirt. (She gave it to me, I don't usually take  items of clothing from people without permission.) The collar is made out scraps I had in my fabric pile.

The dress is very easy to sew, suitable for a beginner and can be customized many different ways. It is also currently on sale for $5.00 until the end of October.

  2. So cute! And I agree with you...it's baffling how fast kids can get their clothes wrinkly and dirty. Ugh. :)

I like how yellow flowery collar matches the blue striped (friend's shirt's) t-shirt LOL
