An Ottobre Dress in Elvelyckan Fabric

A while ago I was lucky to be chosen as one of the seamstresses for Elvelyckan Design fabrics. They sent me two different fabrics and some ribbing to play with. Yeah! I already made a shirt for myself with the first fabric. It was Ania's turn to get the dress. I was really hoping they would send me some of their adorable lion fabric, and they did!

The fabric is super nice, just a dream to work with! It's a bit thicker than the typical jersey. It feels more like interlock. I think this weight for knit is typical for European knit fabric. I love it.

The pattern is from Ottobre 4/2013 issue. It also comes as a tunic. There is also an option with pockets. Originally, I planned to add pockets, and then totally forgot. Oops. I made no changes except I attached the binding differently. They suggest to do it with the sewing machine in a way that imitates the coverstitch finish. Except, there are raw edges left on the inside, and I also find it a bit difficult to keep neat. So I attached it with the serger and topstitched.

Apparently, she is pretending to be a captain on the ship. Whatever works. lol

Photobomb! She insists on coming every time we take pictures. I hope the love between them remains as they grow older.

  1. Lovely! I really like the sleeves on the pink dress - that little bit of fullness makes them extra special. Your girls are beautiful.

  6. Beautiful! I've found that european knits are much more pleasant to sew with than many thinner knits.
